Location: NY Airport.

Scarlett’s POV:

Walking with my brothers, I suddenly remembered—I’d left my book on the table. Excusing myself, I turned around and headed back toward it. But as I rounded a corner, I slammed into what felt like a wall… or more like a solid chest.

When I looked up, the world froze.

Those eyes.

Emerald green.

Like a forest—untamed, mysterious, deadly.

Wild… and ready to swallow everything whole.

I couldn’t speak. Couldn’t think.

I just stared.

Those eyes… they held entire stories.

I didn’t even realize my hand was reaching out—moving on its own toward the mask covering his face.

But before I could touch it, he caught my wrist mid-air. I froze.

What am I doing?

I quickly pulled away, guilt and confusion flooding through me.

Before I could say a word, someone called him from behind.

And just like that… he turned and walked away.

No name. No words.

Just fading footsteps in the crowd.

Only those eyes remained burned into my memory.

Emerald green.

I don’t know what spell he cast on me—but something about him… pulled me in.

Toward him.

Only him.

And for the first time in years, I felt the desperate need to see someone’s face.

Just once.

I was still frozen in place, lost in thought, when someone tapped my shoulder. Instinct kicked in—I grabbed his arm and twisted it without hesitation.

“Ma’am—p-please! I was just trying to return this book. I saw you reading it earlier, so…” the man stammered in fear and pain.

Realizing what I had done, I instantly let go, nodded silently, took the book, and walked away—already planning how to mess with my brothers.

Author’s POV:

From a distance, the same emerald green eyes watched her retreating figure.

“Not yet, princess…” he murmured, voice low with guilt and longing. “When the time is right, I’ll let you touch me. But not now. I can’t risk everything—not after all these years.”

And then, without a sound, he disappeared into the night.

Location: Private Jet

Scarlett stepped into the private jet like a queen returning to her throne—chin high, eyes hard, and confidence in every footstep. Behind her, her brothers followed silently. The guards at the entrance bowed their heads respectfully as the Romano siblings boarded.

Scarlett took her seat at the far end, intentionally distancing herself from the two men trying to play family again. But they weren’t giving up so easily. They sat across from her.

“Cara, do you want something to eat? Or drink?” Xander asked gently, like nothing had happened, like they hadn’t torn her apart years ago.

Scarlett’s POV:

What are they?

Chameleons?

One moment they disown me—toss me aside like I’m nothing.

And now… they care?

Where were they when I cried myself to sleep?

When I hoped—even once—they’d ask if I’d eaten? If I was okay?

Now suddenly, they want to play the “concerned brother” card?

Pathetic.

“No,” I replied coldly and plugged in my earbuds.

Music—my only peace.

When no one understands me, when the world turns its back—songs are my escape. Especially BTS. People hate me for loving them. Let them.

Their songs kept me alive when people didn’t.

My phone buzzed. A call.

I glanced at the screen—Luke.

My workaholic PA. Probably something urgent.

Instead of picking up, I declined the call.

A few seconds later, a message popped up:

“Boss, there’s an emergency. We need to talk.”

I bit my lip. Not now, Luke.

I typed quickly:

“Can you handle it? I’m busy right now.”

A pause.

Then another message:

“Boss, what do I do with the man from the airport?”

That bastard… right.

He had dared to betray me.

“Take good care of him. I’ll decide what to do when I arrive.”

Nobody gets away with betraying me.

Nobody.

My brothers were still watching. I could feel their eyes on me like lasers. I looked up, expression cold.

“What?” I snapped.

“Cara, who were you talking to?” Xavier asked, confused.

Oh, so now they care who I’m talking to?

Where were they when I needed someone?

When I begged for attention?

Now I don’t beg.

I don’t explain.

I don’t care.

“None of your business.” I replied, turning away.

I just want peace.

Is that too much?

Apparently, yes—because they can’t leave me alone.

I excused myself and went to the washroom. One hour left to land in Italy.

I messaged Luke again:

“Buy me a mansion in Italy—near my brothers’. I want my own space.”

Because peace doesn’t come by chance—you fight for it.

And I always put myself first.

Yes, I run companies.

Yes, I built an empire from the ground up.

I worked until my hands bled, until my bones ached.

But I made it.

I’m not just rich. I’m powerful.

Independent.

Unbreakable.

No man. No family. No betrayal can stop me.

Location: Airport, Italy.

Author’s POV:

It was night when the private jet landed in Italy. Stars sparkled above. The air was cold, the wind sharp, and everyone bundled in heavy coats.

Click. Click.

The sound of heels echoed in the silence.

Scarlett stepped out of the jet like a goddess claiming her kingdom.

Because she wasn’t just anyone.

She was Scarlett Sofia Romano.

Daughter of Alexander Romano—Mafia King of Italy.

Her name alone made people tremble.

The airport staff stood frozen, guards on edge, watching the Romano siblings like hawks. No one dared to move.

As they passed, people exhaled—only once they were gone.

A silver Rolls Royce stood waiting.

Scarlett’s eyes narrowed.

She knew chaos awaited her at home.

But this time, she wasn’t running.

She wasn’t crying in the shadows.

She would face everything—cut down anyone who tried to bring her down.

Because now… she knew exactly who she was.

Strong. Smart. Ruthless. Powerful.

She was Scarlett fucking Romano.

And her reign had just begun.
